Hi, we are Tammy and James ~ the Woodsman and his Wildflower.
We live in southern Manitoba on our homestead together with our 30 chickens, 6 ducks, 3 goats, 2 dogs and 1 cat.
My love of herbs and medicinal plants was inspired by my father and his love for natural health. Over 25 years ago he introduced me to growing herbs and the wild foraging of Anise Hyssop, and my heart was hooked. About 15 years ago observing wildflowers, not just alive but thriving in the most uninhabitable conditions, further stirred my heart to embrace the healing and life lessons that nature offers us.
I practice Traditional Folk Medicine and believe, that when accepted with intention and gratitude, nature, medicinal plants and herbs offer us holistic healing on a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual level.
James, the Woodsman, is most at home in the forest communing with nature or in his workshop. A natural at tree identification and keen to knowing when one has reached it's latter season and is ready to be harvested. He creates handmade wooden cooking spoons/spatulas, soap dishes, cutting boards, chainsaw carved mushrooms & trees and one of a kind oak benches.
Formerly we were Thrive Like a Wildflower Holistics & Handcrafted by The Woodsman...in May of 2026 we decided to simply. We combined our names and our love for our homestead. Welcome to WILDWOOD ROOTS HOMESTEAD.
We absolutely love living a life of gratitude, having meaningful chance encounters, caring for our homestead animals, growing our own food, gathering with loved ones and sitting in the morning sunshine with a coffee.
